ABOUT MARK NAGAR

Mark is the Project Manager for the HHS Buyers Club, a HHS IDEA Lab sponsored project focused on addressing a critical problem in government: ineffective and inefficient acquisition of information technology services. Through Buyers Club, Mark aims to test innovative procurement methodologies for IT service acquisition (and sharing the results in Use Cases for everyone to benefit); develop newer, easier, and more effective acquisition models and processes; and engage all key stakeholders with effective mutually-beneficial education/outreach.

Prior to joining the IDEA Lab in April 2014, Mark spent more than four years as a Contract Specialist primarily focused on international acquisitions in support of global health for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Most of his time at CDC was spent managing a $500 million international public health services contract. He’s a recipient of the 2014 NCEZID Director’s Award for Frontline Public Health as part of the Naegleria Fowleri response team and delivered a 2013 CDC TEDMED-style Talk on innovation and crowdsourcing for public health.

Mark grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and earned his undergraduate degree in business management from The University of Alabama and his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from The University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). He is also author of The Rooster’s Crow: Answering the Call for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Across America.
